my photo supply is dwindling. this weekend i’ll be spending some quality time with my camera, making up for the past few weeks of neglect.
for now you will have to live with this charming photo taken about a month ago. out in the distance is a couple doing things that should not be done in the middle of a walking park.

i’m much better now. my mouth is healing nicely and my jaw is not as stiff. hopefully, within a week, i’ll be able to finally eat my reward, in-n-out. the doctor was nice and the nurses very comforting when i woke up during surgery. not the most pleasant experience. i could feel him tugging, pulling, and ripping (snipping? clamping? i’m at a loss for terms when it comes to oral/maxillofacial surgical talk) on my right side. i screamed and gripped the table for dear life. this happened to me once before when i had my other wisdom tooth removed. awful, awful, awful!
tommy stayed home for two days and took very good care of me. despite taking pictures. i don’t remember much when he brought me home after the surgery. i found out a few days later that i threw two post-anesthetic temper tantrums – one involving my pajamas and the other about the cat throwing up on the ground next to the bed. i slightly recall yelling out, “is it a big one?”, but i thought that was just a dream. the food wasn’t too bad either. i drank lots of milk (something i never do), ate pudding, drank chicken broth, and his mom bought me the zone protein shakes. i did manage to lose five pounds. one thing i’m most grateful to have back in my system is coffee. i missed my friend.
the doctor was kind enough to put my teeth in a baggie as a keepsake. you’ll notice that they’re a lovely shade of brown all due to my stint on tetracycline in high school. i couldn’t help but notice that the remaining pieces of bar soap in the kitchen look surprisingly like the teeth.
so that about wraps up my last week. thank the good Lord for syringes, hydrogen peroxide, and that wisdom teeth don’t grow back.

this is what i’ll be looking at for the next few days as i hide in my room, recovering from tomorrow.
although, i’ve been telling myself not to worry about it, i’m having a hard time not being nervous. i’m going in to have my wisdom teeth removed. i’ve had it done before and it was a big, bad experience. infection. puss. blood. swelling for several weeks. “eh. chipmunk cheeks”, i would groan to myself as i looked in the mirror.
i know, i know…i’ll be ok. but still. the puss. it was awful.
i’m going to try making a large pot of potato leek soup tonight so that i’ll have enough for the next few days. if it turns out nicely, i’ll post the recipe.

in case you missed the hubbub in the comments yesterday, i just want to clarify one thing – there is a filter in the comment section. the filter does have a mind of its own and will find particular words in other words, thus creating a fun replacement. enjoy and please don’t abuse.

fact: if you slightly undercook a hardboiled egg and toss it into the microwave to harden it, when you remove the egg from the microwave and pierce it with a fork, it will explode. chunks of egg will be stuck to the ceiling, walls, your hair and face, blinds, window, the dining table clear across the other side of the room, and also lodged inside the coffee maker.
my fear of inanimate objects exploding has been actualized.
