LET ME TELL YOU WHAT MAKES the most perfect birthday for me… tommy, wren, happy birthday text messages all day long, donuts, cupcakes, a strawberry milkshake + grilled cheese sandwich, sushi, anthropologie {yeah!}, and watching a cute little old man eating lunch in my favorite diner. a perfect birthday.

SUNSHINE + CUPCAKES = A PERFECT PARTY the weather was a dream for wren’s party – low 70’s in february! the little bird had a blast, and from the looks of it, her friends did too.

WE HAVE A THREE-YEAR-OLD IN THE HOUSE! our sweet little girl was so excited for her birthday, asking every day since tommy’s birthday if her’s was next. the fact that she slept in that morning – leaving us waiting to surprise her with balloons, cinnamon rolls, and presents for half an hour – says nothing about how much she couldn’t wait to be a three-year-old. she had a fun day calling all the shots, playing at the park, wearing her new backpack, eating cupcakes, cookies, and ketchup with a side of hamburger and fries at the counter {just like her daddy}.
she’s right on track with being a typical three-year-old tyrannical dictator – or at least trying – keeping us laughing {while we hide our faces}, or occasionally forcing me to run away in shame at the grocery store. during her three-year checkup, the pediatrician commented, “she is very strong-willed. you’re doing a great job redirecting her.” and by redirecting, i’m sure she knows it includes a daily serving of ketchup and cupcakes to keep the peace.
i’m so excited for this year and all the new things our little bird has to experience… first plane ride, going to disneyland, taking ballet lessons, starting preschool, and potty training… wait, i mean, POTTY TRAINING. that word should always be written in caps.
i have a feeling this year is going to be a fun one!
