holiday gift tags

holiday gift tags are here – check out the three designs on etsy.

yesterday, i was attacked {in a good way} by the handmademovement.com and made 12 sales. prior to the attack i hadn’t made a single sale on etsy, so it was a boost to my spirits and a motivation to keep going with the online store. i have my work cut out for me and must finish up on packing and shipping out everything by tomorrow. it’s a nice change of pace to switch from delivering my work digitally to a tangible product made with my own child-like hands. yes, i have tiny fingers, perfect for tying ribbon on the tags.

scootergator

scooter is one of pepe’s friends. i left off the gator tail. oops. it would be too difficult for scooter to move around with two tails anyway.

exceptional and missed

032207

i haven’t posted for what seems like years — on account of not having much to share lately — but i feel compelled to post about a friend who passed away recently. over the past few years, his art has encouraged and excited me to draw and paint again. the photos of his work hardly show the intricate and thoughtful detail that goes into each piece. in memory of troy davis, i’ve posted a few of my favorite pieces he created. to view more of his work, visit troy’s site

love tags

021307

i’ve been missing in action for a few months, but that doesn’t mean i haven’t been busy. a mother of an update has been made to my other site – an update so massive that it took me five months to complete. lots of new designs, as well as some sexy, hot love tags

connect the dots

092606

this is a four-year-old’s interpretation of pointillism. i love how she connected some of the dots; by the way, she mentioned the lines are supposed to be water. i had the pleasure of showing three wonderful children some of georges seurat’s work last week, and then worked with them on creating their own pointillism painting. the youngest gave me her painting, and it’s now hanging on the wall, next to my desk – a beautiful, colorful source of inspiration.

illustration friday: aging

080405

this is my first submission for illustration friday. acrylic on paper.

therefore, we do not lose heart. though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. so we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

wish i could say it was mine

072605

i saw this piece up when i went with wendy to san jose state earlier this year. i was so taken by the colors, the texture, and the chairs that defiance grabbed my hand and forced me to touch the paintings. repeatedly. fortunately, a guest book was waiting for us next to the painting. honestly, guest books at galleries are just an open invitation to act like an idiot. wendy wrote, ‘it looks so good i could taste it’. i wrote, ‘it looks so good, i could steal it’.

if anybody knows the artist, please pass the info along. i’d love to let him/her know that my sticky fingers fondled his/her chairs for a good five minutes.
