don’t mind the smell

030806

i did a little shopping for myself last week as a birthday present for my feet. they need a little love too, you know. because of my aversion to wearing socks, naturally i bought more flats.

here’s a fun fact – i was once known as the stinky footed girl at my previous job (stinky footing due to a lack of socks). yes, coworkers complained of the smell when i’d remove my flats after a long walk during a break on a hot summer day. i had a trick that i thought would help diffuse the odor — which did not work — i would slowly remove my shoes from my feet over the course of 20 minutes.

i am a little sensitive to the idea of being known as a smelly girl (i’m a very clean, nice-smelling girl, really, i am), and i want my flats to stay clean and fresh smelling for as long as possible. so let me ask – how do you other sock haters deal with stinky shoe issues? any magical products i should try? and to answer the question that i’m sure someone will ask – yes, i wash my feet at least once a day!

eww sandy, sandy, sandy! ew! i definitely don't have stinky feet outside of wearing my flats - i'm perfectly non-stinky otherwise :) nicole - i'm gonna give odor eaters a try. i don't know why i didn't think of that. doy! tammy - good advice, i'll give that a try too. kristin | 10:22pm on 3/9 if your feet sweat more than most try an aluminum chloride solution for your feet. otherwise check with your dermatologist to make sure that you do not have an infection. most "stinky feet" can actually be cured. sandy | 10:03pm on 3/9 what about good 'ole odor eaters? nicole | 5:29pm on 3/9 i hate wearing socks as well, but my feet tend to sweat :-( i wear those little footies like you put on when you try on shoes at the dept store. yes, it is something else to put on your feet, but they are not as restrictive and annoying as socks. they work especially well with flats and you can't see them. tammy | 2:25pm on 3/9 lorena - that's great advice, i'll definitely check it out. i really don't mind spending a bit more on shoes if it means that they last longer and don't smell! kristin | 2:28am on 3/9 i know this may not be the best solution, especially depending on your budget, but i've noticed that shoes made in places like brazil and italy don't make my feet stinky, even without socks. shoes made in china, forget about it! however, now even if you buy "expensive" shoes, doesn't necessarily mean they aren't made in china...so look on the bottom of all shoes... lorena | 8:24pm on 3/8 we "netflixed" arrested development and yes we do love it. but not as much as lost. steven | 5:21pm on 3/8 if there is some magic product, i need it as well. wearing boots the whole day makes for quite a funk. but then, i do have to take 2 showers mon-wed-fri due to gym time with the squadron. steven | 5:20pm on 3/8
